Some days ago I started the installation of my vSphere 5.5 U1 lab for the first time. I have preferred to go quickly so I have chosen the Simple Installation method for the vCenter Server and his components.
After the installation was finished I logged to the vCenter Server using vSphere Web Client and my Domain user account, but I was not able to do anything and I see (0) next to vCenter Server in the Inventory Tree.
I read the official documentation of vSphere 5.5.1 and many VMware KB but I didn't find anything which explains this situation, I started to search in the internet and I found many Bloggers have already blogged about this problem. But I find only one who explains clearly and simply how to fix this.
The blogger Frank Denneman in his article show step by step with screenshots how to configure vCenter Server permissions to the Domain user accounts or groups, and finally you can use your Domain user account to access the vCenter Server as an Administrator or configure others privileges.
here's the link to his article titled : vSphere 5.5 vCenter server inventory 0
